National Advisor to the Family Place Project

Sue McCleaf Nespeca has been invited to serve as a National Advisor to the Family Place Project, an initiative of Libraries for the Future, a national organization which advocates for users of public libraries, undertakes studies of the rapidly changing information environment, and establishes model projects that demonstrate the essential role of public libraries. The Family Place Project seeks to strengthen outcomes for children and families through family-centered library services. With a major grant from the Hasbro Children’s Foundation and additional support from the Traveler’s Foundation, the Hartford Community Foundation and the New York State Parent and Child Library Services Grant, six sites have been established: Middle Country Public Library, NY; Hartford, CT; Lyndon, VT; Providence, RI; Baltimore, MD; and White Plains, NY. The role of the National Advisor is to offer criticism and advice regarding the content of the overall program through site visits, annual meetings, and telephone consultations; to help connect the Project to other organizations and activities that share an affinity with the goals; and to assist with dissemination by suggesting opportunities for information about the Project to be shared both within and outside the library community.

Library Channel Demonstration/Q&A

If your library is interested in checking out this product; NOLA, Warren Trumbull County Public Library and VImpact will be hosting a demonstration of the software on the 28th of August. The program will begin at 1:00 pm and last for approx. 2 hours. Jim Zimmerman, founder of the company that created "The Library Channel" will be in attendance to answer questions. We hope to make this a unique opportunity to really check in to this software and determine if it is right for your library. There is no cost for the event and all NOLA members are welcome.
