Special Issue - See What Other Libraries are Doing with Their Webpages

Today's news is targeted at bringing you some cool examples of what other folks are doing in providing service through a library homepage.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library

Check out the 5,476 Internet links. Also of interest, they have their entire video collection listed online.

Kansas City Public Library

They are providing a unique blending of web access to the catalog alongside Internet resources. One of the first good examples of the integration of the web into traditional collection policies. Also, they are keeping up an awesome Internet reference section. Overall, this is a great site to pick up some ideas.

Reading Public Library

Nice layout and design. One neat feature is allowing patrons to give book reviews.

St. Joseph Public Library

One of the longest standing websites for a public library. The page contains a lot of links to information both local and outside. Of particular interest is the new searchable database of obituaries. Isn't the word Necrology scary?

Westerville Public Library

The list wouldn't be complete if it did not include Westerville. Of particular interest is the Virtua Interface to the catalog. VTLS is doing some nice work here.

Lakewood Public Library

Library, School and Community; good coverage for each.

Your Website Here

I'm going to try and do this feature on a regular basis (of course, for me regular might mean every odd Thursday). Send me some examples of good stuff; yours or other library pages you have found.
