Ingram Library Service Issues

We have received some calls at the NOLA office concerning our discount with Ingram Library Services Inc. in regard to freight costs. According to our agreement, libraries should receive free freight for book/audio orders from the Primary Warehouse. On checking with our Ingram Representative, Bill Brown, I discovered that our primary warehouse is Fort Wayne, Indiana, for geographical reasons. At one time, this warehouse contained Ingram’s largest inventory of books. Presently, their Nashville warehouse has a significantly larger inventory than Fort Wayne. Thus, when a NOLA library orders books from Ingram, the Fort Wayne facility is checked first and books are sent from this locale with no freight charges to NOLA libraries. Since Fort Wayne has such a small inventory, this will almost guarantee that many of the books you order will be supplied from Nashville and your invoice will show freight charges. I have talked to Bill about our dissatisfaction with this arrangement and he is in the process of finding a more workable situation for us. We will be in contact and hope to have this resolved by the October OLC conference. As soon as a new arrangement is reached, it will be in effect immediately. Until that time, we must follow the original contract. If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact me.
