Award Winners at ALA

Winners of the Newbery and Caldecott and other major awards were announced January 12 in New Orleans, LA. at the American Library Association Conference.
The awards were as follows:
Newbery - Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse
Newbery Honors - Lily's Crossing by Patricia Reilly Giff; Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine; and Wringer by Jerry Spinelli.

Caldecott - Paul O. Zelinsky for Rapunzel
Caldecott Honors - Christopher Myers for Harlem written by Walter Dean Myers; David Small for The Gardener written by Sarah Stewart; and Simms Taback for There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.
