Legislaters Ask FCC to Suspend E-Rate Program

Congressional members from both sides of the aisle sent FCC Chief William Kennard a letter asking him to suspend the program amid announcements by several telecom companies that they would raise rates to accomodate the program. In the past week, both AT&T and MCI said they would hike long distance rates 5% causing many congressional reps to demand a line item accounting on customer bills.
