Desktop News Turns 100 Hard to believe, but this is our 100th issue. My, how time flys when your glued to your monitor! Keep watching this space as we have some exciting new things planned for the next 100 issues. Road Shows for Net Access The CyberTimes has this article on libraries offering Internet access via bookmobile. Ohio's own Newark Public Library and the director Wilma Lepore are spotlighted. Proposed Legislation Could be Compromise Key Senator Conrad Burns (D-Montana) is considering proposing a bill that could salvage the Schools and Libraries section of the Universal Service Fund. A press release from June 3rd describes the plan. Meanwhile the Commerce committee of the Senate is set to meet with all five FCC commissioners in an annual oversight hearing and the issue should figure prominently in the testimony.
