Road Shows for Net Access

The CyberTimes has this article on libraries offering Internet access via bookmobile. Ohio's own Newark Public Library and the director Wilma Lepore are spotlighted.

Proposed Legislation Could be Compromise Key

Senator Conrad Burns (D-Montana) is considering proposing a bill that could salvage the Schools and Libraries section of the Universal Service Fund. A press release from June 3rd describes the plan.

Meanwhile the Commerce committee of the Senate is set to meet with all five FCC commissioners in an annual oversight hearing and the issue should figure prominently in the testimony. A decision on what happens next with the program is due by weeks end. One of the commissioners has already come out against the program.
