Two Staff Resignations

It is with much regret that I have accepted the resignations of two NOLA staff members. Ken Bell, our Technology Consultant since 1997, has told me of his intention to leave NOLA the latter part of November. His last working day will be October 15, 1998. Ken has been a change agent in the truest sense of the word and will be missed very much by our member libraries. He has made an incredible contribution to NOLA - AccessOhio, The Desktop, advanced technology training, development of web sites for members, consulting services. This list just keeps going on. The NOLA Board meets on July 21, 1998 and will be discussing this position.

Holly Ryan joined NOLA during the summer of 1997 as our first Continuing Education Coordinator and has worked as the Youth Services Consultant since the first of the month. Her resignation will be effective July 31st. She had made a valuable contribution to NOLA and the quality of our Continuing Education and Technology Training program today is due in large part to her effort. She also conducted AccessOhio training during this past winter. We will all miss Holly - she has been a joy to work with.

We will advertise for the Youth Services Consultant position (a part-time, independent contractor position funded until June 30, 1999) during August.

We all wish Ken and Holly the very best.

Marketing/Public Relations Consultant

I am pleased to announce that Carol L. Shantz will begin working as our Marketing/Public Relations Consultant on August 1, 1998. After 11 years, she is retiring as Public Relations Coordinator at the Euclid Public Library effective July 31st. While there, Carol developed one of the finest lifelong learning programs in Ohio. Her prior experience includes working in the banking industry for many years as a vice president of marketing. I have known Carol for over 11 years and know that we will utilize her expertise in many ways. One of her first tasks will be to develop a NOLA marketing plan - marketing to members, to prospective members, and to organizations that we can partner with in the future. I hope that you have the opportunity to meet Carol.

This Marketing/Public Relations Consultant position is a part-time, independent contractor postion and will be funded until June 30, 1999.

NOLA Clerk-Treasurer

The Personnel Committee met on July 17th to review the applications that we have received for this vacancy, created when Melissa Lattanzi accepted the NOLA Continuing Education Coordinator position effective July 4, 1998. We hope to have someone on board before Labor Day. We will keep everyone informed.
