Whether your library currently has a book discussion club or you’re thinking about starting one for the first time, let the NOLA Regional Library System Book Discussion Group help.

The NOLA Regional Library System currently provides over 80 titles to the member libraries participating in the Book Discussion program. This collection is reviewed by the participating libraries and updated annually. Each title has 10-12 copies.

With the start of the next program year (September, 2000) we will have a new electronic schedule enabling participating libraries to schedule books at their convenience.

If you have any questions concerning the book discussion program or are interested in participating, call Bonnie Tyler at 330-847-7744, extension 10.

NOLA Book Discussion Policies:

Lost or Damaged Books
A member library will pay the cost of replacing a lost or damaged book plus a $2.00 processing fee.  NOLA will bill the library when it learns from Portage County District Library that a book must be replaced.

Overdue Books
If a member library is unable to forward all of the books in a book discussion set, the librarian will send a note with the books stating he/she will forward the overdue books as soon as possible.

Outside Groups
An outside group that is interested in using Book Discussion books may only do so if the following conditions are adhered to:

 1.  The outside group will be sponsored by a NOLA member library.
 2.  The group can not use sets less than three years old.
 3.  Groups cannot request sets during the summer period while libraries are requesting sets.

NORWELD
NORWELD may borrow NOLA Book Discussion sets with the exception of the most recent sets.
