AccessOhio This project evolved from the successful TOMCAT and Ohio Shared Catalog initiatives. It is a physical union catalog that is Internet accessible. The project encompasses over 100 Public Library systems in Ohio as well as several school members. The catalog is in a state of constant update and currently houses approx. 1.5 million unique items and nearly 8 million holdings. In addition, members use the software provided to forward blank requests to SEO for OCLC placement. Between the catalog and OCLC backup, NOLA members are able to fill most of their patrons requests. |
Daily Delivery NOLA has contracted with U.S. Cargo to provide daily delivery service to our public libraries and some school libraries. This company has been in business for 25 years and has an excellent reputation for on-time delivery. |
ONN Serials List NOLA is working with the Ohio Valley Area Libraries (OVAL) to develop a web-accessible serials database. We will add the participant data that we currently have and then each library will be able to update their own holding information. |
Reference Back-Up The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will provide Statewide Reference Back-Up Service. This service is designed to provide reference assistance to libraries unable to answer reference questions after searching their own resources. The Statewide Reference Back-Up Service program provides this service to all types of Ohio libraries - public, academic, school, and special. Once a library has exhausted all local resources, the question can be referred to the Back-Up Library. Questions may be submitted by email to [email protected] - by toll-free fax at 1-877-OHIOFAX (644-6329) or toll free phone at 1-877-OHIOREF (644-6733). Requests should be for factual information but not for in-depth research and should require no more than 30 minutes of staff time to prepare a response. Fax or email questions may be submitted at any time. Questions may be submitted by phone during regular Library service hours, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1p.m. to 5 p.m. Please be sure to include your library name and type of library, phone/fax number or email address, contact person and any sources already consulted. Medical Reference The NOLA Regional Library System has contracted with the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM), located in Rootstown, Ohio, to provide member libraries with medical reference backup service. First contact the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and ask your medical reference question. If this library is unable to answer your question, then you can contact NEOUCOM. You can call their Reference Desk at 330.325.6599 or send an e-mail message to [email protected]. You must identify your library as a NOLA member.
