These entryways that are the default homepages set when a browser is first installed, often don't get changed by the end user. This gives the vendors of these pages an enormous audience for advertising, etc. Netscape just announced an exclusive partnership with Excite in hopes of rivalling competitor and dominant search engine; Yahoo.
